That Not So Grand Cross ~ 29 April 2014

Well, we made it through the cardinal grand square involving Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto without the world ending. We slipped by the “blood moon” eclipse that Christian fear-mongers, suffering from titillation of watching Noah’s work on the silver screen, determined would be the culmination of God’s wrath. Hey, I went out in the middle of the night and checked out that eclipse... it looked rusty to me, but I still have to fix a hinge on the gate in the backyard. And we made it through last night’s follow up eclipse.

Now if a person lives in the deep south of the United States and just now climbs out of storm cellars in the wake of a severe tornado outbreak, last night’s eclipse was evident. And if a person’s natal chart was impacted by the degrees of either eclipse, or those of the grand square, no doubt their personal world is shifting, rollicking and seeking upliftment, upgrade and transformation. To those suffering from natural disasters we send our best healing and comfort vibes.

To those having a time of it by transit, here are a few thoughts to keep in mind:

This upcoming weekend Venus marches into Aries. This will start a reclamation interval of needs and desires with a hugely punctuated time stamp: “I want what I want and I want it now!” As Venus moves into the degrees of the grand square (May 13 - 15), woe be unto those who lack the wisdom or decorum to comply with the wishes of Venus, whether with those with one is personally involved, or in situations where one is obliged to perform tasks in exchange for money. You know... the love and work axis.

Another critical retriggering of the grand square occurs in mid-June when Mars, then direct, moves up to the degrees of the cross in which he was previously a player.

A thought that occurs to me is that there could be payback executed somewhere in the world for the drone attack initiated by the United States upon alleged Al Qaeda operatives during the transit. Certainly more goings on in the Ukraine likely intensify in this interval as well, based upon actions and reactions during the grand square.

On a personal level, this is last call for “get off your duff, dig in and push your personal wish list forward.” True, this year started with a strange first 4.5 months of personal planets retrograde. That clears on May 19th as Mars returns to forward relative motion (he never really does go backward, you know), on the heels of Venus’ desires inching into the red zone on the want-meter. Ironically, those with astrological insight may have missed some of the best non-personal planet transits - those involving the award (reward) rendering Jupiter for instance, by hesitating in lieu of and in the face of personal planet retrogrades.

So if your goals have been subject to hesitation, you have another month and a half before your personal life coach in the sky, Jupiter, fires you for inaction and noncompliance with the terms of your “make your life work” contact.

I see Jupiter now, wagging his finger now that he can be clearly seen free of the clutter of the wannabe upstage planets participating in the recent cross. Jupiter reminds us all: He trumps all other transits. And he adds that major transit patterns must be executed when they occur; retrograde planets be damned.

Saturn snickers as he retrogrades back into a trine with Jupiter from his posit in Scorpio. He whispers through his raspy voice (he’s had to yell a lot at those using hesitation in life as their primary mode) let us not forget about persistence, dedication and enduring output related to expectations and goals. Yes, Saturn and Jupiter will soon be trine for the last time in this sequence on May 24th. Everyone can get behind a Jupiter-Saturn trine, right?

Typically I avoid personal examples, but I have one that neatly fits. For four years I have submitted screenplays to the Beverly Hills Film Festival. For four years I have been accepted as a finalist, which by itself is a statement of writing competence at an upper crust level. For three years my peers have walked to the podium of the awards gala, grabbing the glass trophy, gaining industry acclaim smack dab in the hub of the entertainment industry.

Last weekend the screenwriting awards were dished out as Saturn in Scorpio rose on the eastern horizon... almost exactly aligned with my natal Mercury. The traditional interpretation: anything you say or write will be diminished, undercut, ignored, rejected or spit upon. In this context the forecast might be another year of maintaining graciousness in the face of other writers winning. However, at the moment that Jupiter exactly - to the dang minute - trined my natal Venus, my name was called as the 1st runner up in the screenplay awards. Yes, that’s number two... from about a thousand screenplays from nearly as many talented writers. Still, there was recognition and work connections resulting. Now the hard work begins for real.

My point: Jupiter trumps Saturn. Despite personal planet retrogrades one must use personal planet triggers and march forward no matter what. In the middle of May, the third week of May and the middle of June the collective patterns favor making major hay. Find personal triggers and get the gears turning without grinding. Remember, your life coach in the sky is checking his watch.

More soon, as Saturn duties permit.
